– With great joy and pride for the third year in a row, we welcome the Spartan Trifecta Weekend in our city, this year in a slightly earlier term. This prestigious competition, known as one of the most challenging races with obstacles and obstacles in the world, re -gathers top athletes and recreational athletes from all over the world, confirming the Holy Week as a destination for top sports and adrenaline challenges. This year’s number of competitors registered so far is the biggest so far, and more than half of the entries are foreign competitors, which speaks a lot about the size and importance of the competition itself – said Saint Sunday, Dario Zurovec.
Depending on their own capabilities and ambitions, the participants will be able to choose between Sprint (5 KM, 20 obstacles), Night Sprint, Super (10 KM, 25 obstacles) and the most difficult races – Beast (21 KM, 30 obstacles). The bravest will be able to try the trifecta challenge and overcome all three races in one weekend! For the youngest Spartans (4 to 14 years old), a baby race was prepared at 0.8 – 3.2 KM with 10 – 20 obstacles, which encourages sports spirit and teamwork.
– Maintaining such sports events always has multiple value, from the popularization of sports among young people and the importance of physical activity to the promotion of Croatia as a sports and tourist country. Their meaning was also recognized by the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which continuously supports the maintenance of major sports events in our country and has so far allocated more than € 60 million for almost 190 sports events. The races with obstacles, such as Spartan Trifecta Weekend, also have a lot of support, so with this event, which we co -finance from the first edition, we support the World Cup, which will be held for the second time on the island of Hvar this year. Added the value of this race in Saint Sunday is that it is held during the preseason period and thus contributes to the development of continental and year -round tourism, which is one of our main strategic goals – said Kresimir Samija, Director of the Sports Directorate at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
Dubravko Simenc, head of the outdoor, cyclotourism and sports tourism in the Croatian National Tourist Board, emphasized a strong tourist influence of this event.
– Such sports events are attracted to the attention of media and audiences from around the world, which further positions Croatia as an attractive destination for active tourism. The arrival of international competitors, their teams, professional headquarters and fans from different countries contributes to increasing the number of international arrivals and strengthening the sports and tourist offer. Sport tourism is one of the fastest growing segments of the tourist industry, and Croatia, thanks to its exceptional sports successes and attractive locations, has a huge potential for the development of this branch of tourism. We are particularly pleased that the manifestation is held on the continent, because strengthening the tourist offer in these areas is our strategic goal. Considering that as many as 95 percent of tourist traffic is being realized on the coast, such events are key to attracting more guests in the interior of Croatia. With more than 2250 participants who will visit this competition, additional value is also a promotional effect that will contribute to the recognition of the destination and Croatia as a whole.
The director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, Ivana Alilovic, has discovered data that shows the influence of this event.
– How much an event is valuable for the local community is best shown by this year’s results that record strong growth, the number of accounts issued increased by 26 percent and total turnover by as much as 43 percent, which is a clear indicator of the positive economic effect on local economy and tourism. I thank the organizers for the great enthusiasm and professionalism that contributes to the development of our destination. said Alilovic.
A special weight of Santa Domenica Spartan Trifecta Weekenda is also contributed by the fact that during the event for the second time, the Croatian State Championship in OCR (obstacles) will be held where the best Croatian athletes will show their skills. Among the favorites are Ivan Vuletic, Luka Horvat and Kristina Simatic, who defends the title of last year’s champion.
Kristina SimaticState Champion in OCR, eagerly awaits the competition and defense of the title.
– Ocr Sport for me is much more than physical strength, it is a symbol of persistence, discipline and overcoming obstacles, both on the track and in life. Any race is an opportunity to move our own boundaries and show ourselves what we are able to achieve. I am very pleased that there are more and more lovers of this sport and that the OCR community in Croatia is slowly but surely growing. The big part of this is due to this race, which is being held in Saint Sunday for 3 years in a row. People have recognized this adrenaline and the fun that this sport provides, and I hope to inspire many, especially women, to venture and step into the OCR world, because power is not just in the muscles – it comes from the inside.
