Evenepoel has had more serious accidents in recent years. During the Lombardy race, he broke his pelvis, making him staying for six months, and during the Basque race he broke his collarbone and therefore recovered for almost two months.

During his recovery and fighting his doubts, he drew inspiration by watching his rivals Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel in recent one -day races.
