Even in jumps yellow and red cards

Head of ski jumping and Nordic combinations Gorazd Pogorelčnik attended a meeting of Podkomite on Friday for equipment and development at the FIS International Ski Association. As he explained in an interview with the STA, in Prague, most of them discussed changes in jersey measurement protocols. The goals are fewer disqualifications, more confidence and fairer competitions.

Pogorelčnik said at the end of March at the final of the World Cup of Ski Jumping in Planica that they had discussed proposals at the meeting that would improve the jersey measurement protocols. Even then, he said that they would change, but there would be no change in the rules themselves.

In the valley below Ponce, the meeting was intended for proposals, and to Prague they had time to think about which of these supported. Although the Czech capital did not discuss the Norwegian jersey organization affair during the trondheim World Cup, it was the basis for talking about changes in measurement protocols. For the upcoming Olympic season, he has thus adopted some new rules as regards measurement and measurement protocols.

“The goals of the meeting were that the competitions would be fairer than in previous seasons, that there are fewer disqualifications. If these protracts are strictly implemented, I see no problems, in my opinion we have not had bad rules already. Of course, the problem was that there were 50 competitors at the start at the start, and you need about 15 to 20 minutes to review one competitor, so you can scan five, six competitors per game. This is then difficult to control, « Pogorelčnik explained.

They worked that the control would be more reasonable, that there would be fewer guesses, more confidence, both between the teams themselves as well as between teams and FIS representatives, and last but not least those who are the best win.

At the meeting, each country made some proposals. Slovenia suggested, among other things, that basic measurements should be made again. “This means that the basic measurements you perform with a 3D scanner, the length of the arm, legs, gap, size of the foot … are performed again. That the contestants are not only controlled, but also before the start of the period and chipping of the jerseys, as this offers smaller options for any disqualification, « continued Pogorelčnik.

He added that they had not yet made a final decision in this proposal, otherwise he would discuss all the proposals the ski jumping committee at FIS, which will meet in May in Portugal.

There will also be more clarity in the event of disqualification. “It will be publicly announced what disqualification it is. So far, for example, there has been a ‘jersey’ and that was all. It will now be quite exactly what happened that the public will be aware if there is such a case. «

They also talked about the introduction of yellow and red cards and stricter penalties. “It will be quite precise when it is an unintentional and when a deliberate violation. For example, if the scale is too big by an inch, two then the competitor is unlikely to be disqualified. However, in the rules, it must be purely defined what the yellow card means and then the other yellow or direct red. On the basis of this, it will decide whether the competitor is disqualified only from that competition or will have any longer ban on serious violations than in football. «

As for the restrictions on jerseys that they could have 10 together last season, they confirmed the proposal that two jerseys are being used at the beginning of the new season, another ahead of New Year’s tour and two for the Olympics, a total of five jerseys. There are also no sponsors for the jersey Olympics.

At the meeting, Slovenia presented another proposal, namely that every competitive weekend is attended by one of the representatives of the nation, whether from the coaching headquarters or anyone else who delegates it. “Although the proposal did not go through, it went through a modified proposal to reinforce the control room with another additional, neutral man who is not from FISA or individual narrower national systems. So an additional person will be in control. «

In addition, there are quite a few questions left, including the feeding of jerseys by the International Federation. « We talked that for major competitions or for those that last for a long time, such as the New Year’s tour, Olympics or SP, FIS would feed their jerseys and to return directly from the competitions themselves. »

« But probably this will not go from weekend to the weekend, FIS listed quite a few reasons, although we unanimously voted to be a good proposal, » said Pogorelčnik, adding that they would still talk about this proposal in the future.
