This winter in Uccle will be the eighth season with more precipitation than average. With that we match the absolute record from the spring from 1924 to the winter of 1926. The RMI reports this on Saturday, when entering the meteorological spring.

December 2024 was a drier month than average, but was followed by a very wet month of January, with an equation of the absolute record of 2004. This was followed by a drier month of February.

In total there was 278.3 mm precipitation in Uccle last winter (normal: 228.6 mm). That quantity fell on 50 days (normal: 55.2 days). The largest day total was 30.4 mm and was registered on January 5.

There was precipitation in Uccle during five days that consisted of snow in whole or in part (normal: 12.6 days). This ensured a maximum snow thickness of 8 cm on January 9. In the rest of the country there was precipitation during 44 days that consisted of snow in whole or in part. In the Hoge Venen this took care of a snow cover on 58 days, the longest periods from December 19 to January 5 and from January 7 to January 24.

The winter was a lot more gloomy than average: the sun was shining in Uccle only 143 hours and 45 minutes (normal: 180 hours and 17 minutes).

The entire winter, warmer and colder periods alternated in Uccle. As a result, the final average temperature of the season is close to the normal value: 4.2 degrees Celsius (normally 4.1 degrees Celsius). The temperatures varied in Uccle between -4.0 degrees Celsius (January 14 and February 18) and 18.2 degrees Celsius (February 21), two high values ​​for the winter.

The lowest temperature throughout Belgium was registered on January 14: -15.3 degrees Celsius in Elsenborn (Bütgenbach). The highest temperature of 19.8 degrees Celsius was measured on 21 February in Kapelle-op-den-Bos.
