European arrested 25 suspects who allegedly spread child pornography
The European Police Office (Europol), together with police authorities from 19 countries, made 25 arrests worldwide for sexual exploitation of children. Suspects were part of a criminal organization that distributed photos of minors, fully created by artificial intelligence (UI)they wrote in a report on Europol's official website.
The main suspect is a Danish citizen who was arrested in November last year. He led a digital platform, which provided users with a password for symbolic payment to deviate from child pornography.
Identified 273 suspects
The arrests were held as part of Cumberland surgery, which advocates preventing sexual abuse of children. The countries involved in the arrests include Austria, Denmark, Bosnia and HerzegovinaGermany and Spain. Most of the arrests were held on Wednesday, February 26, led by the Danish authorities. So far, they have managed to identify 273 suspects, they have conducted 25 arrests and 33 house investigations and seized 173 digital devices.
For the first time, Europe participated in an operation, which is about the use and distribution of material, which was entirely created by artificial intelligence. Although this kind of content is not « real victims », it contributes to the objectification and sexualization of children, Europeans points out. They point out that sexual exploitation of children online is one of the most widespread cyber crimes in the European Union.
Disadvantages in the legislation
Crimes in which child pornography is mostly or fully created with UI are especially demanding for investigation. In many cases, it is difficult to distinguish between true content and content generated by UI. Even more so, the persecution of such crimes make it difficult to deficit deficiencies in countries in which child pornography is not well defined.
Member States of the European Union discuss potential joint legislation on the proposal of the European Commission, which seeks to protect children from sexual abuse. If the legislation were to be adopted, as a sexual abuse of children, any photography or recording with the pornographic content of minors created by UI would be considered, he explains El Pais.
