Europe under pressure to send more help to Ukraine

In order to compensate for the loss of US assistance to Ukraine, EU countries will have to provide more military equipment for the defense of the attacked state and financial resources for its operation. There is no sign that Russia could be prepared for a ceasefire and later for lasting peace.

In the short term, European countries are expected to provide Ukraine more weapons for air defense and artillery grenades. The aim of EU foreign policy representative Kaje Kalllas is to get Ukraine two million 155 millimeters. The Member State’s widespread support has a wide range of five billion euros. The original goal of Kaja Kallas was to provide the EU € 20 billion.

According to new data from the Institute of World Economy (IFW) from Kiel, Europe provided military, humanitarian and financial assistance worth EUR 138 billion by the end of February. This is 23 billion more than the US. In the field of military assistance, the US is continuing to take advantage. According to IFW, especially the largest European countries (France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom) should increase the help of Ukraine if Trump permanently breaks US delivery.

With the proportion of the entire bilateral military and other aid of 0.15 percent of GDP, Slovenia is on the verge of the lower third of the EU countries.
