Europe imports less energy | Luxembourg word
In 2024, the EU imported energy products worth 375.9 billion euros, which corresponds to a total amount of 720.4 million tons. Compared to 2023, imports decreased both in terms of value (-16.2 percent) and volume (-7.1 percent).
This also applies to oil with a decline in the decrease in the man -made import by 2.4 percent; In terms of value, oil import fell by 4.7 percent according to the latest data from the EU statistics office Eurostat.
In the case of imported liquid gas, a severe decline in the value (-39.1 percent) and volume (-15.1 percent) was also recorded compared to 2023. A similar development could be observed in gaseous state in natural gas, which decreased by 30.2 percent, while the amount fell by 4.4 percent.
USA and Norway are the most important energy suppliers
In 2024, the United States was the most important partners for the EU imports of petroleum with a share of 16.1 percent, Norway with 13.5 percent and Kazakhstan with 11.5 percent.
At 45.3 percent, the United States delivered almost half of the imported liquid gas in front of Russia (17.5 percent) and Algeria (10.7 percent).
Much of the natural gas in gaseous state came from Norway (45.6 percent). Algeria followed by 19.3 percent and Russia with 16.6 percent.
