Europe Day will be celebrated with large concerts in Tallinn and Narva
Exactly a month later, May 9, Estonia and Europe will again celebrate Europe Day. During the first week of May, in different parts of Estonia, events will be organized, the culmination of which will be large open -air concerts. They will take place on May 9 in Tallinn and Narva. The Tallinn Museum of VABAMU will also host a traditional seminar at which the “European of the Year” will be declared, the representative office of the European Commission in Estonia reports.
“The European Union is a peaceful project, and on the day of Europe we celebrate that we are all together in the European Union, where countries are not fighting with each other. Unfortunately, for the third year in a row on the day of Europe we have to think about what the European Union can do to put an end to the war in Ukraine as soon as possible and provide a strong world, ”said Ave Shank-Lukas, acting as the head of the European Commission in Estonia.
School classes will be able to start celebrating Europe Day on May 9 at 9:00, when traditional orientation in the city dedicated to topics related to the EU will begin in Tallinn and Narve. It will be possible to participate in orientation in both cities until 17:00. On the day of Europe, the doors of several EU embassies will also be open to schoolchildren and other guests to introduce those interested to everything that connects us with the European Union.
At the VABAMU museum, a seminar dedicated to Europe Day will discuss the topics important for the EU and declare the owner of the European of the Year title. The candidates for this title were the deputy of the Riigikogu Khana Lahe, the head of Elering Kalle Kilk and the head of the Narv Museum Maria Smorzhevsky-Smirnova. Three finalists were selected from ten outstanding candidates by the vote of the jury, which included representatives of the state, civil society, entrepreneurs, media and the European Commission. The winner of the title « European of the Year » will be determined according to the results of the popular vote.
The European Day will continue on Vabaduz Square, where from 15:00 all residents of Tallinn are invited to numerous exhibitions and events. The culmination of the day will be a free concert, which will begin at 18:00. This year, 5miinust X Puuluup, No professes and Icelandic artist Dadi Freer will enter the stage.
For the second year in a row, a large concert dedicated to Europe Day will be held in Narva. From 13:00 in the Narv College of Tartu University, a language cafe will open, where it will be possible to find out about languages and cultures of different countries. A festival area will open on the Town Hall Square. At 15:00, local youth groups will perform: Pale Alison, the piano trio from Kokhtla-Yarva and the G1 group from the Narva Estonian State Gymnasium. At 17:00, Anna Vorski and Nublu will give a free concert on the Town Hall Square. This year, concerts for Europe Day, which are held both in Narva and in Tallinn, will be broadcast on ERR TV channels.
