EU4Grengen will improve environmental education


The European Union delegation in Albania launched today a new environmental communication project at the European House in Tirana. Titled EU4Grengen, the project aims to raise awareness of environmental issues such as the circulating economy, biodiversity and waste management, promoting behavior change and supporting Albania’s approximation with EU environmental standards.

With a total budget of about 1.5 million euros over the next three years, the EU and its partners will develop a number of national and regional campaigns designed to support Albania’s transition to a sustainable, circular and comprehensive green economy in accordance with the EU membership process. Hubert Perr, chief of cooperation in the EU delegation in Albania, emphasized the wider importance of the initiative. « The EU membership process is not only about the adoption of laws it directs a real social transformation. Environmental legislation is one of the most complex and costly areas of EU integration, however it brings out tremendous long -term benefits that are not only vital to the environment and health of citizens, but also create new and sustainable job opportunities, Said Perr.

Sofian Jaupaj, Deputy Minister for Tourism and the Environment, emphasized the importance of time and vision. « This project comes at a crucial moment in Albania’s journey for EU membership. Our country is rich in natural heritage and biodiversity and has important potential to lead in circular economics practices. The initiative will provide six comprehensive, multi -channel and evidence -based campaigns for the advancement of environmental protection and waste management, promoting sustainable business models, preserving biodiversity and incorporating the principles of the circular economy in everyday life. Through the EU4Grengen, the EU reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of Albania, promoting an elastic economy, looking forward and maintaining the country’s natural heritage for future generations.
