EU officials and the USA have held two-hour talks about customs duties
High representatives of the European Union and the United States held a video conference on Friday to discuss the comprehensive customs duties of President Donald Trump on European import products.
European Union Commissioner Maroš Shefčovich said he had talked to US trade of the Howard portion and US trade representative Jamieson Gerer for two hours.
He described the chief at Xu’s discussion as open.
« I was clear. US customs are harmful and unjustified, » he wrote. « EU trade relations need a fresh approach. The European Union is committed to serious negotiations, but she is also ready to defend her interests. »
Chief concluded, « We’re in contact. »
Trump announced the basic customs duties of 10 percent of almost all countries in the world on Wednesday, but many are affected by much higher rates. The EU is affected by customs duties of 20 percent to the good that exports the US.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU finalizes its first package of retaliation measures and that it prepares additional steps to protect its business if customs duties with Washington do not encounter fertile soil.
