Ukraine and European allies demand unconditional, at least 30-day ceasefire from Monday. « We know that the United States supports us, » said Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskij in Kiev after talks with allies. « If Russia refuses to complete and unconditional ceasefire, sanctions should be imposed, increased sanctions against the energy sector and the banking system. »
Russia responds with allegations to the threat of European countries with sanctions, should it refuse to take a 30-day break. « We hear many contradictory statements from Europe. They are generally confrontational and not geared towards reviving our relationships. Nothing more, » said Presidential Office Dmitri Peskow on Saturday.
Meanwhile, they could put their peace plans « in the butt », the vice chief of the Russian National Security Council, Dmitri Medvedev, wrote in English on the platform X. The former Kremlin chief commented in vulgar language for the meeting of the « Coalition of the willing“In Kyiv.
« Historical moment »

Russia calls conditions for ceasefire
Russia has so far asked the USA and the EU as a prerequisite for a 30-day fire break to Kiev. « Otherwise there will be an advantage for Ukraine, » said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow in the interview of the US broadcaster ABC. Ukraine would use a ceasefire to continue their « total mobilization » and bring new troops to the front to train new staff and to provide the current fighters a breathing space, said Peskow.
« Why should we give Ukraine such an advantage? » Peskow asked the US journalist. Russia itself is progressing on his offensive in Ukraine and has the initiative, he emphasized.
Both warring parties always accuse each other not to have any real interest in the end of the fighting. The Ukrainian President Selenskyj recently insisted on the 30-day ceasefire proposed by Trump. It should offer the prerequisite for negotiations to solve the conflict.
