EU awards 36,000 free train tickets to young Europeans
Young Europeans again have the chance to apply for a free train ticket for trips across the continent. The EU Commission gives away 36,000 tickets to young people as part of the « Discovereu » travel program. The application deadline for this ends on April 16 at 12 p.m., as the Brussels authority announced.
Anyone who was born between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007 and lives in one of the EU countries or the federal states of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Northern Macedonia, Norway, Serbia or Turkey. In addition, a short quiz must be filled in via the EU. If you get a ticket, you can travel through Europe for up to 30 days between July 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026.
For participants with disabilities or health problems, there is additional support, the statement says.

The « Discovereu » initiative started in 2018 and goes back to the idea of activists Vincent-Immanuel Herr and Martin Speer. The proposal to give every EU citizen an interrail ticket for the 18th birthday and to familiarize young people to familiarize the continent was a lot of encouragement from politics and society.
