The Estonian weightlifter March Seim won a silver medal in the heavyweight weight category at the European heavy athletics championship, which was held from April 13 to 21, 2025 in Chisinau, Moldova.

In the exercise “Verk”, the Sejm raised 180 kg, and in the “push” – 235 kg, which in total gave a result of 415 kg. The Armenian athlete Varazdat Lalayan with a total result of 450 kg (210 kg in a jerk and 240 kg in a push) won the gold medal, ahead of the Sejm by 35 kg.

For the Sejm, this is the first major medal in the international arena in almost a decade: in 2015, it became a silver medalist of the World Cup, and in 2016 – a bronze medalist of the European Championship.

The total amount of 415 kg has become the best result for March of the Sejm in recent years. The last time he surpassed this indicator at the 2018 World Championships, where he raised 427 kg in the amount of 427 kg and took fifth place.

The bronze medal in this weight category was won by Ukrainian Bogdan Hoza with a result of 406 kg (190 kg in a jerk and 216 kg in a push).

The European Championship of 2025 became 103rd among men and the 37th among women and took place in the Chisinau-Arena arena.
