Estonian citizen in Valmiera steals expensive smartphone / day from the store
On Sunday, March 23, a mobile phone theft took place in Valmiera. The man wanted to buy « Samsung S25 Ultra » at the full price when talking to the seller and additionally buying the AirPods headset. The seller went to the warehouse to prepare the headset, leaving the selected device on the service table. When the seller returned in a moment, the customer had picked up more than 1,300 euros and ran out of the store.
The seller immediately informed the police, and the store guards, when checking the video surveillance records, found the the number of the theft vehicle license plate. Police reacted promptly and State Police officials noticed this car on the Valmiera highway towards Valka.
Two Estonian citizens born in 1999 and 1997 were detained during the inspection. During the test, the stolen « Samsung S25 Ultra » phone was found, which was undamaged and unopened. Both suspects were taken to Cesis, where they were placed at the point of detention. Subsequently, one of the persons began to complain about health problems at the detention site and was taken to a medical facility, but they were not confirmed by the medical facility and was repeatedly taken to a temporary detention.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the incident and the police are investigating to clarify all circumstances of the theft. The phone will be returned to the store.
