Especially number 1 will benefit your purse
Here are the 8 most important check points in April:
1. Review the heating system
Whether it is district heating, heat pump or oil stove, you should make sure the system works optimally. Bad operation costs both money and indoor climate.
2. Look for cracks in the facade
Small cracks can quickly grow big and expensive. Spot them early and the patch solution can be cheap – wait and it can cost the integrity of the masonry.
3. Examine the plinth
You can often fix smaller cracks yourself, but if the crack goes up into the wall, you should call for a professional. It may be a sign of serious sentence damage.
4. Check the joints between the bricks
Especially in 70s houses, the joints are a weak point. If the mortar is crumbling, it’s time for a joint renovation.
5. Keep an eye on Murbis
Small holes in the joints can mean that Murbier has moved in. They are not dangerous in themselves, but their homes can cause moisture damage and frostbite.
6. Review all exterior wood
Cracks, rot and fungus are warning lights. Use a sharp knife and test the tree – is it soft, it is worn. And then it has to be changed.
7. Give the windshields attention
They protect the roof from penetrating moisture. If they are rotten or loose, it can lead to expensive roof repairs.
8. Apply wood protection
Points in particular need help to stand against the Danish weather. The frequency depends on the type of wood, location and what product you use – but once a year is rarely too much.
Then look to find the sealant and the work gloves. Your home will thank you.
