Erdogan shakes the soil under the feet. Protesters do not give up, the opposition is looking for change
A large number of people gathered in Yozgat on Saturday at an anti -government protest organized by the largest Turkish opposition Party of the Republican National Party (CHP) in the central Turkish city, traditionally considered a foothold of the president party.
Yozgat, who otherwise supports the Party of Justice and Development (AKP) President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, moved away from the stereotype, said CHP leader Ozgur Ozel to protest.
Television recordings showed that farmers with tractors also participated in the protest.
The protests are directed against the Government and its activities against former Mayor Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu, who was first arrested and then dismissed from duty.
CHP regularly calls for protests since his arrest last month. They are planning them every Wednesday in Istanbul and every weekend in different locations across the country.
On Wednesday, hundreds of protesters gathered in Istanbul.
The arrest and closing of Imamoglu pushed Turkey into the most serious crisis for a few years.
Imamglu was detained on March 19th regarding an investigation into corruption and terrorism. He denied those accusations.
Opposition and other critics have accused the Government of using the judiciary of eliminating Erdogan’s greatest rival.
