Erdogan: Documents have been submitted to investigate corruption and criminal activities of Immoglu
Members of the most influential Turkish opposition Republican People’s Party (PE) have submitted documents that are the basis for investigating corruption and criminal activities by Istanbul Mayor Ekrem I Imamoglu, who is from its ranks, Turkish President Recep Tayyip said today.
In his address, he accused the opposition of vandalism on the streets and attacks on police.
« We have never forgotten and we will not forget those who are trying to win by illegitimate means and those who are so desperate that they are pushing the state into conflict, » the Turkish president said in his address.
He also said that for any sabotage attempt against the Turkish economy, the prosperity and peace in the country would be held accountable in court.
Immoglu, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main political rival, was arrested last Wednesday, and his arrest sparked the biggest street protests in Turkey in more than a decade.
