Enlargement policy is strategically important for the relevance and future of the European Union – said Foreign and Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski in addressing the Budapest Global Dialogue 2025 International Conference, organized by the Hungarian capital, organized by the Hungarian Institute for International Affairs.

According to Mountain, in his introductory address to the conference, Mucunski emphasized the need for proactive and cohesive European policy in conditions of increased global instability and variable geopolitical context. He emphasized that a stronger and more coordinated European Union, in partnership with a stable transatlantic relationship, is an essential prerequisite for dealing with external challenges and preserving the security and prosperity of the European continent.

Special emphasis in the address was put on enlargement policy, which Minister Mucunski described as strategically important for the relevance and future of the European Union. He underlined that our country and the Western Balkan countries are an integral part of European security and economic architecture, as well as efforts to increase the competitiveness and innovation of the Union.

« European integration of the region should not be seen exclusively as a geopolitical choice, but as a common strategic need and responsibility, » Minister Mucunski said.

In his speech, he underlined that the Macedonian people paid the price of patience and compromises, but pointed out that there are lines that will not be crossed – because, as he emphasized, they determine the essence of our national identity.

-Our language, identity and cultural and historical continuity cannot be subject to negotiations. They are the soul of our nation. We are committed to integration, but equally the defense of our dignity and the right to be who we are – without conditions, without apology, without deletion – said Mucunski.

He added that this is not a spite of spite, but of self -respect, stressing that the future in Europe must be built on mutual recognition and confidence, not to delete history or imposed narratives, the ministry said in a statement.
