Employers predict employment growth but staff is less and less
The prospects of employers for this year’s second half are quite optimistic, employers predict 2.1 % employment growth and anticipate more than 32,000 jobs, notes the new employment announcer prepared by the Employment Service. More As half of employers expect trouble finding staff in the next five yearsand structural discrepancies in the labor market are increasing.
In the next half a year, the most commonly sought after drivers will be heavy trucks and tugs, welder, easy -to -work workers, cleaners, servers and household assistants, sellers, masons, chefs, warehouses and purchase and sale officials, as well as professions for health and social care at home. Employers are expected to seek 32,262 workers in the next six months. The highest employment growth is predicted by small employers, most jobs will be in the Ljubljana area.
The biggest problems have big
But problems in finding staff remain. At the end of May this year were registered with 43,196 unemployed2.6 percent less than April and two percent less than last May. In the past six months, almost half of the employers, the largest companies, have faced the lack of appropriate employment candidates.
Employers have stated that there were no workers as the most common reason (in 65 %). The second reason is the inadequacy of the candidates, and it was only as third that they stated that working conditions such as a schedule, salary, fieldwork …) discourage candidates from the applications for the job.
The burden of existing workers
And how do they solve the gaps caused by workers’ lack? As the most common measure, almost 40 percent of them state that already employed workers had to work more. The second most common solution is the transfer of work to external contractors, which almost a third of employers have resorted to. A quarter of employers are looking for workers abroad, in particular this solution is practical for employers from transport and storage, construction and in accommodation and catering activities. About a quarter opt for (re) training already employed. Changing the conditions regarding education, experience and other knowledge is most often mentioned by employers from education, accommodation and catering activities, and in water supply, sewage and waste management, rehabilitation. The employers most often offered a higher salary or other bonuses in financial and insurance activities and in the real estate business, both of which are about a third.
