From the post-slip service to modern mobility and travel providers
In 1875, the young farmer Nikolas Weber founded a post-slip service in Canach, which connected the Moselle region with Luxembourg city. This first connection laid the foundation for the company, which should constantly develop. After the Second World War, Emile Weber and Emilie Weber-Foch took the lead and initiated a phase of growth. The first bus was put into operation in 1946. The first innovation was not long in coming and the first bus with a trailer (1952) was soon introduced with the mobility upturn in the 50s.
In the 1960s, the company under the direction of Fernand Weber and Charlotte Weber-Mertzig as well as Erny Heinisch and Colette Heinisch-Weber experienced another upswing. The first travel catalog was published in 1967, followed by the opening of the first travel agency in Luxembourg city in 1972. These steps marked the entry into the tourism sector and laid the foundation for today’s wide range of services. In 1999 Emile Weber was a co -founder of the Union Luxembourgeoise du Tourisme (Ult). In 2021, the Travel Group Luxembourg (TGL) was founded by merging your own travel chain with the travel agencies of « We Love to Travel ». In today’s travel agency network with over 30 agencies, customers can book trips throughout the world, be it tailor -made tours, organized group trips, cruises or package tours.
Technological innovations paired with sustainable and barrier -free mobility
As early as 1979, Emile Weber set an example of inclusion by purchasing the first handicapped -friendly regular bus. The first disabled -friendly coach was followed in 2002. These initiatives underline the company’s commitment to make mobility accessible to everyone.
Emile Weber has always placed emphasis on technological progress. In 1986 the company introduced the first double-decker coach in Luxembourg. In 2009 the first hybrid bus bus was purchased with a double joint, followed by the first double joint plugin hybrid bus in 2015. In 2015. 2018 Emile Weber used the first fully electrically operated regular bus and opened a specially designed depot in Bissen.
Diversification of the service offer with investments in the future
In 2012, Emile Weber revolutionized the taxi market in Luxembourg with the introduction of WebTaxi, a modern, transparent and efficient taxi service. In 2021, webcamper started, a service for renting and selling motorhomes and caravans, which meets the needs of travelers for flexible and individual holiday experiences. Today the Emile Weber Group is characterized by the variety of its services, products and companies. Thanks to numerous synergies within the group of companies, Emile Weber offers comprehensive and high -quality solutions from a single source, be it for trips, everyday and tailor -made mobility solutions or a wide range for business customers. The group offers a diverse range of services in the division: FCM Travel, the business travel division of the Emile Weber Group, has been part of 2010 and offers comprehensive solutions for travel management. In addition, the event agency Epic Events, which organizes tailor-made events and much more, was created in 2021 by a joint venture between the event management agency Suits & Bubbles and Mice Solutions by Emile Weber.
With the aim of actively shaping the mobility of the future, Emile Weber invested in the Swiss start-up Twiliner in 2024, which develops innovative bus seats that can be transformed into beds at the push of a button. This partnership aims to make night bus trips more comfortable and more attractive. In addition, Emile Weber cooperates with pony.ai, a company that specializes in autonomous driving to promote the development and use of autonomous vehicles in Luxembourg.
