There is a higher degree of production of dangerous hydro phenomena on the rivers in Vaslui and Galați counties, based on hydrological data, said the Minister of the Environment, Water and Forests, Mircea Fechet, following the extraordinary meeting of the Ministry of Emergency Committee, as a result of the national warnings and the national administration Water management (inhga).
‘As a result of the analysis of hydrometeorological data, the specialists from ANM and INHGA have decided to extend the warnings. In view of the quantities of precipitations that have fallen so far, but also of the forecasts, an increased monitoring of the situation is required, especially since in the east of the country the rainfall will be significant, there will be large amounts of water, the wind will intensify and the weather will continue. Based on the data taken by hydrologists, there is a higher degree of producing dangerous hydro phenomena on the rivers in Vaslui and Galați counties, « said the Minister of the Environment.
According to him, the authorities must remain on alert, in all areas of significant risk, especially for those affected by floods in 2024.
‘The mayors must be informed in such a way as to know what to do, to ensure the drainage sections, the bridges are cleaned, to know each one to do in the commune. Increased attention must be paid to the Prut river basin, and the colleagues from ANAR, from these areas, are on alert and prepared by interventions. ANAR will inform the prefects from Vaslui and Galați to ensure that these two counties, which have been affected last year by floods, will pass this difficult period from a hydrometeorological point of view. Also, together with DSU, let’s make sure that the local committees for emergency situations are activated where appropriate and that, at the local level, they are on alert ‘, the minister said.
The Minister of the Environment, Waters and Forests, Mircea Fechet, convened, Sunday morning, the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Situations (CMSU), constituted at the level of the institution. The extraordinary meeting was organized as a result of the updating of the meteorological warnings of yellow and orange code and transmitted by the ANM but also of the hydrological warning made by INHGA. Representatives of DSU also attended the meeting.
The National Meteorological Administration issued on Sunday, an orange code warning of significant water quantities, wind intensifications, accentuated cooling until Wednesday morning, 10:00. Thus, between May 25, at 10:00 – May 28, at 10:00, in the east half of the country it will rain quantitatively and will accumulate locally 40… 50 l/sqm and on restricted areas over 60… 90 l/sqm.
ANM issued a new orange code warning on important amounts of water from Sunday evening until Tuesday morning on Sunday. Thus, between May 25, at 8:00 pm – May 27, at 10:00, in most of the Muntenia, as well as in the center and south of Moldova there will be important quantitative rains and 50 l/sqm will accumulate and isolated over 80 l/sqm.
Also, according to hydrologists, between May 25, 8:00 pm – May 27, 4:00 pm, there will be important leaks on slopes, torrents and streams, fast floods on small rivers with possible local flood effects and levels on some rivers from the river basins Olt, Calmă, Vedea Dobrogea, with possible exceedances of the defense quotas.
