Elfsborg coach Oscar Hiljemark about the time in Palermo
Already after six rounds, the first coach of the year came in the men’s football hall Swedish, when the victorious table jumble IFK Värnamo chose to go different paths with Robin Asterhed and Ferran Sibila.
Last year, five of 16 all -Swedish clubs waved by a coach prematurely because the results have not become what they wanted – and in another six there were coach changes for other reasons.
One who knows what it is like to suddenly get rid of the job is IFK Gothenburg coach Stefan Billborn – As for DN, he thinks he thinks the coach association in Sweden must be stronger in order to better utilize the professional group’s interests.
Oscar Hiljemark is another With extensive experience of coach changes – but from a different perspective.
Today he is the manager of the all-Swedish club Elfsborg, almost ten years ago he was a promising midfielder who just left the Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven for games in the Italian Serie A club Palermo.
Then Giuseppe Iachini was coach, and had been for two seasons. It is very, very long to be Palermo at that time.
– We had nine coaches, and there were probably six exchanges during the first season, I think, says Hiljemark when he remembers back to his one and a half season long victories in Sicily.
– Something like that.
It’s not that strange That Hiljemark does not remember exactly. How many coaches Palermo had during the period depends a little on how you count – interim solutions and so on – but it is possible, for example, to note that the Ianchini was fired in November, got the job back in February, and then got fired again in March.
Davide Ballardini is another coach who had the job twice during the 2015/16 season.
What happens in the dressing room when, let’s say, coach number five comes in?
– Then you were used to it, I think. The first time was the worst, says Oscar Hiljemark.
– But that’s the world we live in, and everyone knows. Everyone who is involved in it knows that when you sign a contract, it becomes either a success or something else, and then, usually, the outcome will be that the coach may leave.
He continues:
– Then there are different trust capital and different types of club philosophies and so on, which one must clearly take into account.
– But the feeling as a player is that you feel both disappointed and involved in the fact that the outcome becomes as it will be there and then. But that was somehow getting used to that in international football.
How much was there in mind when you chose Palermo?
– I knew about it so clearly.
At the same time, the former midfielder reasoned, the club had made a nice season before and had a high reputation for selling players to larger clubs.
– It was probably more that you focused on. Then the outcome was as it became, and it was an educational process in itself.
Hiljemark moved in the January window in 2017 to the league competitor Genoa. There were 55 matches in Palermos’s pink sweater.
All clubs work Of course not as Palermo did at this time. The man behind the many coach changes is called Maurizio Zamparini, the businessman who owned the club between 2002 and 2018.
Hiljemark met at the club owner several times.
– After all, it was our manager.
How was he?
– He was an emotional person who burned for his Palermo and did everything he thought was right in his way of trying to achieve the best results.
So today Hiljemark is The self -coach, albeit in a rather different environment compared to Palermo under Zamparini. Hiljemark’s manager is instead called Stefan Andreasson.
– They are quite different so clearly, he says with a smile.
– Elfsborg is also a club with a lot of security and a strong belief that you achieve things together, and in this way can also build a future and a structure for the club to be successful.
– It is still what we all want, that IF Elfsborg should feel good and perform well over a long time.
But how is the coach front In Palermo this season? Well, Alessio Dionisi took over the assignment for the season, and is still on the post.
Palermo is currently seventh in Serie B, the Italian second league.
