The government will force loading points (OPC) to provide electronic payment means such as 'QR Code' or bank card for loads of more than 50 kilowatt-hour (KWh).

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing (MIH) announced this Thursday, in a statement, that mandatory competition mechanisms (contests) will be introduced in the assignment of new loading points in the concession or subconcended areas.

This model, according to the ministry, is aligned with the practice of other countries of the European Union, complying with the European Regulation affirms.

The government also approved the end of the obligation to connect to a single platform for the entire system of the network that was so far managed by the management entity of the electric mobility network (currently in Mobie).

« Portugal has waited for 15 years for this revolution, it is not understandable that the country for 10 years was ahead of all Europe in electrical mobility and today marks a crucial area for decarbonized economic development, » said the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, quoted in the statement.
