Eight years in prison for swimming teacher (25) who took on young girls between 4 and 8 years old (Aalst)

On September 19, 2024, a parent couple reported to attack sexual integrity to the detriment of their minor daughter. The facts were committed by a man who gave tutoring mathematics to their daughter. The man also turned out to be active as a teacher in a school in Ninove and gave swimming lessons to toddlers in a swimming club in Aalst.

On September 20, 2024, Speurders performed a house search in his home. B. initially denied everything. After his preparation with the investigating judge, the police planned a new house search in his parental home. In the run -up to this house search, the defendant admitted the facts.

In the parents’ home, especially in his former bedroom, the investigators seized different data carriers, including two iPhones, an iPad and a MacBook. Some photos and videos stated that the defendant cross -border behavior set with regard to his plus daughter. Nude photos and images of other minors were also found, including during a holiday camp for children where the defendant was the main monitor.

The defendant also filmed and touched several children when they went to the toilet. The police could identify different minors. At least 8,000 child pornographic images were found on the defendant’s laptop.

Indictments

Based on these facts, the defendant had to answer for rape before the court in Dendermonde, the damage to sexual integrity and honor and the manufacture, distribution and possession of images of sexual abuse of minors.

The Public Prosecution Service demanded eight years in prison and that is what the chairman also imposed on the swimming teacher on Tuesday. He loses his civil rights for a period of five years and is made available to the criminal court for a period of ten years.

Lawyer Sophie Claeys, who performed for the parents of a 5-year victim, responds satisfied. « This statement is a powerful signal to the victims. There is recognition and hopefully this is the start of their recovery. The impact of the facts on daily life is huge. Leaving their child in peace at school can no longer. » Nothing is going to happen, « she says.

The defendant must pay a total provisional compensation of 39,000 euros to the various civil parties. « That remains symbolic, this did not know what happened, » said Master Kjell Verleysen, who defends four families who became victims of B. « the possibility that he can still appeal, weighs on them. »

The defendant himself was not present in court on Tuesday. « He is in custody and could not handle it today for his verdict, » said his lawyer Bernd Bogaert.
