Another woman She was killed in Umag on Wednesday afternoon, a total of eight in five and a half months of this year. According to what the Istrian police have established so far, the man committed a femicide and then judged himself. It seems to be many times seen and established scenario, according to which the perpetrator is a former partner, and the motive for this terrible crime is the fact that the victim has left and left him. The case was also commented on by the Minister of Interior Davor Bozinovic and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Marin Piletic.
– When it comes to killings, we have eight women who were killed this year, four are actually the case of femicides. We will see, in all likelihood, it could also be a case here, because we have information that these two people were in the marital community – said Bozinovic.
Minister Piletić, however, is the latest case of Femicide in Umag because it shows that we still have abusers who are not distracting for long prison sentences for serious murder. He added that in the case of Umag, there was no recorded violence, which is why, Piletić believes, he cannot speak of any absence of the reaction of society, state and institutions.
Last year, police recorded 37 killings, and in 18 cases the victims were women. Five women killed their intimate partners, then or ex, and seven more women were killed within a family. In just six cases, the perpetrators were not persons close to the victim.
When it comes to Femicida, first of all, one should know that it is a woman’s murder because she is a woman, that is, it is a gender -conditioned murder of a woman, and the motive for murder is gender and/or gender of a woman. – The most common trigger is the interruption of the relationship in any form, whether it is an announcement, whether the woman really leaves the abuser or interrupts the relationship. The trigger can be any change in an intimate partner relationship that can lead to losing control of a partner – the author states. Analyzing Femicides in Croatia, the author concluded that there were red flags like a victim’s stalking, threatening the perpetrator that he would kill him if the victim left him …
For women, victims of intimate partnership femicide, home is the most dangerous place because it is precisely the majority of femicides.
Bonacci Skenderovic believes that Croatia has made a significant step towards recognizing Femicida, including the difficult killing of a woman in the criminal law, but in order to reduce him to the slightest measure, he should know his dynamics and patterns by which he repeats.
