Eight convictions for robbery on Kim Kardashian, up to three years in prison
A court in Paris has imposed eight people in prison for up to three years for involvement in a roof overal in Paris on reality star Kim Kardashian. French media report this on Friday evening.
It is a robbery on Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, with millions of jewelry being stolen. The American woke up in the middle of the night because two men in police uniform entered her hotel room.
The men, who forced the receptionist to take them to Kardashians, kept the star of series as The Kardashians Under shot and knew her with tape. They stole her engagement ring of 4 million euros, her phone and millions in other jewels.
In total, ten suspects were on trial because they carried out the robbery, prepared or arranged transport. The highest punishment is for the 69-year-old Aomar Aït Khedache who was considered leader of the group. He has to go to jail for three years.
‘I forgive you’
Because of the high ages – most perpetrators were in the sixties and seventy – the group in the French press became known as the Papy Braqueurs: the grandfather robbers. Apart from a diamond cross, none of the jewels were ever found.
Although she is not physically injured, Kardashian did run a trauma after the incident. « I was convinced that they would shoot at me (…), that they would rap me, » said an emotional Kardashian.
« The crime was the frightening experience of my life and had a lasting impact on me and my family, » writes Kardashian in a statement released after the ruling, according to AFP news agency. « Although I will never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and responsibility, and I pray for healing for everyone. »
Several suspects previously apologized to Kardashian during the hearing. « I want to approach you as a person and tell you how touched I was through your (…) tears, » said Khedache. « I forgive you, » said Kardashian. This resulted in that Kardashian « believes in rehabilitation. » For the same reason, she regularly visits prisons in the US and does a lawyer training.
