EFET: Recall lots of buns with praline filling – what is the reason
A batch of brioche with hazelnut praline filling from the market is recalled as it was described as « unsafe » and « harmful to health »
In particular, EFET and the Regional Directorate of Western Greece, in the framework of the program « Official Control for Monitoring Food and Food Add Substances » program, carried out a food sampling with the data: « Tournery Praline Filting – Small Farms of Mountain » 480 g, which is produced and packaged in Greece on behalf of MARKET IN SA, based in VIPA Markopoulou Mesogaias.
As mentioned by EFET, this product was examined by the first section of the 1st Athens Chemical Service of the General Chemistry of the AADE State and was described as « unsafe and harmful to HEALTH », as the above sample was found to contain the substance « coumarin » at a concentration that exceeds the gathering.
EFET has demanded the immediate revocation of the whole batch of this product and the relevant controls are already underway.
At the same time, it calls on consumers who have purchased the above product not to consume it.
What is coumarin
It is an organic molecule that belongs to the category of polynes (polynes) and is found in various plants, such as cinnamon, bean, aromatic root and certain clove crops.
How is it dangerous in large quantities
Cumarin can be toxic to the liver, causing damage and reducing the liver’s ability to process toxins. In addition, it can affect metabolism by increasing the risk of cancer.
