Economy last year with EUR 63,780 added value per employee
Last year, companies in Slovenia generated a net profit of € 6.5 billion, which is nominally less than 2023, achieving net added value per employee of EUR 63,780, which is four and realistically by two percent more than a year earlier, is published from the Slovenian economy report in 2024, which was presented at the Slovenian Agency and the Service. (Ajpes). These numbers do not include last year’s information from banks and insurance companies.
Among the more noticeable changes, the number of bankruptcies, which increased by more than 14 percent compared to 2023 (872) last year (999), and this year the situation is even more uncertain due to the sharpened operating conditions and the introduction of US customs duties, which could further increase bankruptcies, said Ajpes director Tomaž Klemenc.
Average salary realistically higher by four percent
The average monthly gross salary per employee last year amounted to 2,366 euros, which is nominally by six and realistically by 4.3 percent more than the year before. In addition to the better equipment of the industry, wage growth is also one of the main reasons for last year’s raising net added to the employee, Ajpes estimates.
As regards last year’s economy revenue, they remained at the level of 2023. In foreign markets, they decreased by one percent (about half a billion euros), increasing by five percent in markets outside the EU and decreasing by three percent on the EU market.
Most net profit was made by companies in the field of financial and insurance activities, then in the field of professional, scientific and technical activities and in the field of information and communication activities. The EBIT margin decreased by 0.1 percentage points compared to 2023 and amounted to 5.4 percent, and by 0.2 percentage points is the higher EBITDA margin, which reached 9.7 percent in 2024. The profitability of ownership capital (ROE) decreased slightly and is 9.3 percent, the Ajpes calculated.
The greatest profit growth in the Pomurje region
Last year, net net profit increased the most of the companies from the Pomurje region (by 24 percent), followed by companies from the Podravina region (10 percent), southeastern Slovenia, (5), Osrednjeslovenska (3) and Carinthia regions. Companies from other regions reduced profits, most from the Zasavska region (by 38 percent).
