Ecological accident in Hvar, 17 tons of oil poured into the sea
An ecological accident occurred in Hvar this morning. According to unofficial information, pollution of the sea with oil has caused the flow of this raw material from the Ina reservoir. All intervention services that eliminate the effects of damage are on the ground, according to Croatian news agency Horn explained from the Split police, where they confirmed the ecological incident.
Police received information about an ecological accident around 9.30am, when in the Bay of Križna Luka in the city of Hvar the sea was contaminated with oil, which had penetrated it through the earth. According to the newspaper Evening leaf 17 tonnes of oil poured into the sea. The Hvar nautical center has already set up a temporary protective dam, but oil has spread all the way to Paklenjak.

In the field there are police officers, firefighters, members of the mountain rescue service and staff of the port captain. In addition to rehabilitation, they will also introduce an investigation into all circumstances of the event, the Split police explained to Hina.
According to local media, pollution was created after a reservoir of the oil company in which fuel was burst.

They explained from Ina that at the Bay of Križna Luka at night, there was a sudden leakage of diesel from the reservoir at the Bay of Križna Luka. As soon as they detected, they launched all the prescribed protocols in the morning. There are all specialized intervention services in the field that perform rehabilitation together and prevent the expansion of fuel into the environment and the sea, they added.

The tank from which the fuel expired was regularly maintained. The next regular review was planned for 2027, in accordance with the regulations in force, and the cause of the expiry is still being investigated.
