ECG: Roslag excursion with back thoughts – DN.se
It is perhaps no secret for those who read my bouts that I am very fond of sweet bread.
During my last years as a permanent employee at DN’s editorial staff, it was I who baked for Friday coffee on Thursdays and it was always about so -called soft cookies.
At a weak moment I promised the comrades that I would bake cookies, but for some reason I never came to light. In time, I should have time to bake cookies, I thought, but it does not feel like time is enough since I retired.
The thing is that I, Just like my friend Gunilla, who lives on Väddö, is fond of just cookies. Gunilla is not only fond – she is completely crazy in small bread.
Mom was very capable of baking cookies and food bread, while my back thoughts have mostly revolved around soft cookies and cinnamon buns.
It was, on the other hand, quite practical in the world when it contracted to big holidays. We divided the work between us, mom and I, to the delight of both us and our respective.
Gunillas and, respectively, went away for almost two years ago and since I would be a grass this week, Gunilla suggested that I come and greet her in Roslagen’s arms.
Said and done and I not only brought with me a couple of bottles of wine but also butter, flour, raisins, cocoa and sugar. For now it would finally get rid of.
First evening, over a glass of winewe browsed cookbooks and googled for different variants on chess boxes, peasant cakes, Brussels biscuits, carbon slices and matchless. Who should we choose, Gunilla said.
We’ll do seven varieties, I countered. Gunilla looked completely shocked. How long had I intended to stay really?
We decided to start with our respective favorites: chess boxes and incomparable and if it was a beginner tour I leave unsaid, but both became incredibly good.
We got a bleeding tooth and continued with a batch of peasant cakes and another with matchless, but it took on the forces. It was not only the dough that needed to rest for 30 minutes before we could move on.
