Easter is celebrated so strange worldwide
How different things are in the individual cultures becomes particularly clear for Easter. While the Easter eggs in the garden of the US President are rolled, people in other countries prefer to throw themselves with them or deliver wild water battles. The editorial team has compiled some bizarre Easter traditions.
Bag instead of hare
Instead of an Easter bunny, a bag animal bounces in Australia and brings eggs. After the European rabbit has spread in Australia and developed into a real plague because it threatens local animal work, it is not very popular there. The Easter bunny was therefore replaced by another animal – the « Easter Bilby », which belongs to the genus of the rabbit nose bag.
Jills and Joes Garden Party
The « Easter Egg Roll » takes place every year for Easter in the garden of the White House – one of the « greatest traditions ever », as President Barack Obama said to the spectacle introduced by his predecessor Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878. Thousands of children roll around the bet with an extended spoon. As a reward, there is a Holzei signed by the President.
Luminous hill
Numerous Easter fire are sparked every year on the hills of the Scottish Highlands. The ritual still comes from the Celtic period, in which spring festivals have traditionally been celebrated in this way.
Blessed meal
In Croatia there is a long celebration – with eggs, cakes and large Easter fire. On Palm Sunday, wreaths from picked flowers as well as palm and olive branches are braided. Many Croatian families are strictly believing and have their Easter breakfast blessed in the church.

Easter is also celebrated in the Philippines with painted eggs and Easter bunnies. Parents traditionally keep their children up on their heads for bell ringing on Easter Sunday – that should help the little ones grow more growth.
A ringing flies from France to Rome
From Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday, all bells in our neighboring country fall silent. This as grief for the death of Jesus. Easter in England is tenderly approaching when people touch each other with collected willow kitten branches. The ritual should bring happiness for the new year.
Water march!
On Easter Monday there is « Smigus-Dyngus » in Poland-the day of water casting. Young people in particular then deliver a merciless water battle. The custom goes back to the baptism of an old Polish ruler and the conversion of Poland to Christianity.
Flying eggs
Instead of hiding the eggs, you get each other in Bulgaria at Easter. The winner is also the one whose egg does not break. According to the faith, the winner will bloom good luck in the coming year.
