Earthquake in Bangkok. Poles found themselves in the epicenter of shocks
It was 14.20 local time (around 8 am Polish time) on Friday, March 28, when the earth shook strongly in Bangkok. The German GFZ Geological Research Center has announced that The quake had a magnitude 7.3and the epicenter was in the neighboring Mjanma (formerly Burma). The shocks occurred at a relatively small depth of 10 km.

Shortly afterwards, social media flooded panic recordings on the streets of Bangkok. Appeared Videos showing a government skyscraper being built, which fell to the ground like a house of cardsclouds of dust, destruction and water pouring from pools on the roofs of skyscrapers. Until now, information has appeared about one fatal victim and at least 50 injured persons, although the services of the services are still underway. It is known that about 40 people are imprisoned under the rubble of the collapsed building.
In the epicenter of the catastrophe there were Polish travelers, known on the web as Cheaper together. As they admit, although everything lasted literally a few minutes, the whole situation was very stressful.

– We were at our friends at the pool and felt as if a wave had a few times underground. We saw that swimming pools are pouring from neighboring buildings. All buildings were evacuated. The evacuation was stressful, we experienced something like that for the first time, but we are safe, the situation was under control. In general, there is calm, but everyone stays outside for fear of subsequent shocks – says Lena Urbańska in a conversation with « Fakt » cheaper together. In the pictures published by bloggers in their social media you can see water overflowing from the pools of neighboring buildings, a staircase of a skyscraper covered with fragments of facade and crowds of Bangkok residents on the streets.
As the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs passed, there is no information yet whether in the earthquake that touched Thailand, Mjanme, India and China, Poles suffered. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bankgok was evacuated due to damage to the building – said a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paweł Wroński. The employees of the facility are trying to contact rescue services to determine whether there are tourists from Poland among the victims. – This is the very beginning of the rescue operation, so we are dealing with some chaos – said Wroński.
