Dyankov suggested Peevski officially replace the MRF of Ahmed Dogan in the ruling coalition
Simeon Djankov, elected on March 27, has announced to BBC that he sees in the face of Delyan Peevski and his party, MRF – a new beginning, a more stable partner for a ruling coalition. According to him, Ahmed Dogan’s MRF is fighting for posts, while Peevski « seems to offer unreserved support. »
The former finance minister in the first cabinet « Borisov » returned to the public finances of Bulgaria with the votes of GERB, BSP, « There is such a people » and « MRF – a new beginning ». His term is six years. His nomination was submitted by GERB and was the only chairman.

« Peevski’s assistance to the ruling creates stability for our main purpose, which is to enter the euro area. The stability of this government depends on the MRF – a new beginning. It would be better to say than the ruling that they left with a coalition, which, however, did not work and should change, » Dyankov added.
According to him, the stability of the cabinet will be determined by the Peevski Party at least to the convergent report on the acceptance of the euro. That is why he proposed « to say that this is the new agreement », hinting at the removal of Ahmed Dogan from the ruling coalition and replacing it with « MRF – New Beginning ».
Djankov also specified when he last he saw Peevski – 6-8 months ago. Then the two spoke on foreign policy topics, not about the finances of the state. With MRF – New Beginning, Stanislav Anastasov and Yordan Tsonev met 2-3 months ago to discuss the upcoming vote of the budget.

Due to the goal of Bulgaria to enter the euro area, Djankov also admitted talks with Democratic Bulgaria for their entry into the coalition. He cited the party as one of the great defenders of this purpose.
Delay for the euro area
However, the former finance minister has doubts whether Bulgaria will be able to enter the euro area in the early 2026. According to him, there may be a delay and indicated what the reasons are.
« The topic with the Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva can delay us. It may be a stumbling block because there is doubt how public funds are spent. It will not be viewed with a good eye of raising salaries in the Ministry of Interior without any reforms, » Djankov added.

The Bulgarian Development Bank is a parasitic structure
The new head of the Fiscal Council has repeatedly expressed a negative opinion about the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB). According to him, the financial institution does not work for the interests of the state and is a « parasitic structure ». According to him, the idea of such a bank is good, but one should think of a change in its activity.
Djankov said he did not support former BDB chief Rosen Karadimov as chairman of the Commission for Protection of Competition. « As a bank leader, I do not think he has shown that he is fit for this type of work, » the former finance minister said.
