The Central Bank of the Netherlands issued a warning to the citizens: each household should have cash reserve for at least three days, in the event of a state of emergency.
It is recommended to store at least 70 euros per adult and 30 euros per child like – cache, to cover basic costs if electronic payment systems stop operating.

One of the main reasons for such a warning is to increase the threat of cyberattacks, which is becoming increasingly due to the tense geopolitical situation, Politico writes.
At such times, cash can be the only solution. The Dutch Central Bank recommends that citizens have enough cash for basic costs for three days – such as water, food, medicine and transportation.
Bankers have not forgotten either traders – they are advised to provide alternative payment methods, such as QR codes, in case the card terminals do not work.

These recommendations are part of the European Commission’s wider emergency strategy released in March. According to that plan, citizens are advised to have food supplies for three days in order to provide basic needs in the event of war, natural disasters or other crises.
