Due to unpaid funding, Russian pension pay / day is delayed

The SSIA explains that it pays Russian pensions to persons living in Latvia who have been granted pensions under both countries' social security cooperation. The Agreement is valid from January 19, 2011 and confirms Russia's commitment to the payment of pensions and benefits granted in the second month of each quarter, including the financial resources of the Latvian Treasury.

The SSIA has informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) about the situation, asking for urgent contact with the Russian side to find a solution as soon as possible. On Friday, the MFA called Dmitry Kasatkin, authorized by the Russian Embassy in Latvia, who submitted a note to the call to explain the reason for the delay.

The Treasury, on the other hand, has informed that pension and benefit transfers from Russian banks have not been imposed.

The SSIA will start paying pensions as soon as Russia fulfills its obligations, the agency said.

SSIA invites residents who need to receive these pensions to follow up -to -date information on the SSIA website and in the media.

In cases where Russia's retirement costs have caused their recipients to pay for the needs of urgent everyday life, the Ministry of Welfare calls for help in the social services of their municipalities.

LETA has already written that a similar situation developed for the same reason in 2023. At that time, the pension was delayed for two weeks.

The Russian side at the time claimed that the transfer had been made, but the money had not reached the SSIA. It is then decided to make a repeated transfer.
