Due to the rules of reconstruction, the opera / day may have to be closed for several months

Sandis Voldiņš, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet (LNOB), tells the broadcast about the planned repairs and that the repairs are delayed due to bureaucracy.

Voldiņš points out that LNOB needs to change engineering networks and wires. The works have been planned for a long time so that they can be done in the summers when the performances are not happening. However, officials, according to Voldiņš, have tuned the procurement rules for more than a year, and now the end of the works is already rapidly approaching, which will still have to stop opera work for several months.

As Voldiņš explains to the broadcast, LNOB needs to change all engineering systems, as they are in a position to collapse together. LNOB planned that the necessary repairs needed in two summers could be done without a significant impact on the operation of the opera. However, due to bureaucracy, the process has been delayed without moving the final period of May 30 next year. Therefore, overtime and night jobs have to be planned to do everything in order to do everything.

The Chairman of the Board of LNOB states that these repairs will no longer be able to do so as to keep the LNOB operation. « And unfortunately, next year, for two months, we will be forced to restrict public work to be able to fit at all. »

As reported, the LNOB historic house will implement energy efficiency measures of EUR 12.1 million. This will be the largest investment in the LNOB building since the reconstruction in the early 1990s. The total amount of EUR 11.6 million is financed from the EU’s recovery and resilience mechanism plan. LNOB own funds will also invest in the project.

Voldiņš, Chairman of the Board of LNOB, previously emphasized that LNOB has been pursuing a long -term purpose of improving energy efficiency in search of sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. He emphasized that the renovation of engineering systems will address the temperature, air quality and microclimate problems of the building, as well as increase the energy efficiency of the historic body.

The LNOB building is an architectural monument of national importance, so special attention will be paid to the implementation of energy efficiency measures in accordance with the recommendations of artistic technical research, including the renovation of the interior of individual spaces according to the need.
