Due to the alleged bombing at Lady Gaga concert, two people arrested

Brazilian police have arrested a person related to the alleged plan for performing a bomb attack at a free concert by singer Lady Gaga in Rio de Janeiro, attended by about 2.1 million people. Authorities consider the target of the attack to the LGBTQ community, states Guardian.

The concert was held at Copacabana Beach and was the biggest event of the pop star’s career. Despite the seriousness of the alleged threat, the concert was carried out without disturbance, as the authorities deliberately retained the conspiracy information to prevent panic.

Police confirmed that hatred of sexual orientation was the main motive for the attack. The suspects allegedly recruited teenagers to perform attacks with improvised explosives and molotovs, and spread hate speech online.

One of the arrested is the leader of the Rio Granda to Sul, accused of illegally possessing weapons, and the other by a minor from Rio, accused of sexual abuse of children. During the investigations, the police seized electronic devices, but no explosives found.

The group was apparently presented as Little Monsters, which is a nickname for Lady Gaga fans to make it easier to mislead teenagers. One of the persons also had a religious motive and labeled Lady Gaga as a satanist.

Despite the threat, the security at the concert was high – the venue was protected by 5200 soldiers and police officers. Lady Gaga later thanked the audience on Instagram and emphasized that the crowd had left her speechless.
