Drivers’ patience will try congestion season
Great works
As the weather warmed, the road users returned to the streets. Not only are current street repairs planned, which will make traffic more complex, but also a viaduct.
Representatives of Kaunas City Municipality announced that at the end of March the construction of the viaduct on the A1 construction began. The work ongoing had to close the entrance and exit from the city at Aleigalio Street. It is also announced that the second lane is closed on both directions on the section of the Viaduct construction site on the A1 road. The contractors expanded the carriageway by directing the traffic by means of temporary marking – the first and security lanes.
« The entrance and exit between the A1 bus and the rounds of the pole will be closed by around the middle of May, » said Martynas Matusevičius, Head of the Traffic Management Division.
After completing the construction work at Posigalio Street, there will be an intersection of different levels with deceleration and acceleration stripes. The project will make it easier for drivers to reach the elk path quarter, the Eiguliai neighborhood across the Icelandic highway. With the new viaduct it will be possible to leave Kaunas in the direction of Klaipeda and enter the city after arriving from the side of Vilnius.
Traffic closed
Street repair works are planned throughout Kaunas. Municipal experts announce that some of the streets will have to be restricted, otherwise the traffic will not be stopped, but the roadside equipment may also require slower driving.
Returns returning to the streets will continue to be managed last year by beekeepers, H. and O. Minkovskis, winches, wind, Danges, Grunwald, lupine, Biržiškiai, Riomeris and other street repairs. Representatives of the municipality indicate that this year the renovation of the Vandžiogala highway, Laisvės Alley, and the sidewalks on Piliakalnio Street will be completed. In addition, it is planned to manage access to the railway station this year, MK Čiurlionis Bridge and Protiltis, King Mindaugas Avenue.
It is planned that the works will also take place in the Iron Wolf, R. Kalanta (towards the Lagoon), Kalniečių (from fortress avenue to Ukmergės Street), M. Jankus, it in the Kraševskis, Light, P. Vaičaitis, anchor, Batūna streets.
« For some time, car traffic will be restricted on the section of H. and O. Minkovski Street. By the end of the year, Griunvaldo Street is expected to be opened, » Matusevicius informed. It is true that Grunwald Street will become a pedestrian space after the repair and cars will be able to drive there unless the locals traveling home.
« In May, drivers will also face traffic restrictions on Kalniečių Street. It is also planned to be arranged. In June, it is planned to open traffic in the sequel to Laisvės Alley – from Sobor to Trakų Street, » said the other head of the Transport and Traffic Management Department.
He assured that Kaunas residents should monitor information because drivers are always informed about traffic restrictions or changes in city streets.

You will not rise to the mountain
Šilainiai residents will soon have to adjust routes to work and home, as it is planned to manage Linkuva Street. The so -called Milikoniai Hill will not be able to drive.
« In May planned to start work on Linkuva Street, the hill will be closed during the work.
There will be changes at the traffic light adjustable by the Samogitian Highway and Baltic Street. Here we will change the direction of the traffic movement, and we will develop new traffic lights management programs. Parking will be restricted in the part of J. Grušo Street. Public transport routes will also change in this place, ”commented M. Matusevičius about the fact that another traffic artery will be closed.
He said that as the closure of Linkuva’s uphill approaches, the public would be provided with traffic schemes with potential bypass and a change in the procedure for organizing traffic. City buses traveling will also have to view routes and schedules modified for their work.
« The goal is to renew traffic in both directions by September. The main work will be done in the summer, when the traffic volume is significantly reduced, » said Kaunas traffic specialist.
Drivers are always informed about traffic restrictions or changes in city streets.
Changes are waiting
Another grandiose change in traffic organization in Vilijampolė has been planned this season. The so -called Vilijampolė traffic knot will begin this year.
Intensive work is scheduled for the Vilijampolė side at P. Višinskis Bridge. It is planned to install several roundabouts at its accesses, which will make it easier to distribute car flows on Brasta Street or Neris embankment. These changes are needed to make the Kėdainiai Bridge under construction more efficiently. It is true that traffic restrictions will be temporary at this location, unless it is planned to install the new knot with too much traffic. Of course, the technique of roadmen will not contribute to permeability here either.
« The changes in the Vilijampolė transport unit will begin with work that will not have a major impact on traffic.

The action around the city
The action takes place not only on the streets of Kaunas, but also on state roads near Kaunas. Here is a bridge over the Runa River on the A1 road. This bridge connects the districts of Kaunas and Kaišiadorys. The work has already been changed in the traffic order due to the work on this site and the speed limit has been limited.
Now, in this place, the traffic is directed by two lanes by a newly installed temporary bridge, and in the direction of Vilnius one side of the existing bridge takes place.
VIA Lietuva announces that this traffic procedure will be valid until the spring of next year, until the second permanent bridge installation works will be launched.
In addition, Via Lietuva renovated the repair of Sargėnai viaduct near Megos. They are waiting for traffic changes to drivers on the Vilnius -Kaunas -Klaipėda highway. It is announced that deformation sections will begin in the near future. Later the support structures (beams and columns) will be strengthened. After the reinforcement of the overpass, the final work was planned from July to the end of the year.
“Last year, after the overhaul of Sargėnai viaduct, the right -handed viaduct repairs and the work on the left side revealed that the condition of the viaduct was poor and requires additional beam ends to renew the viaduct and ensure maximum traffic safety.
Traffic users are informed that at the end of April, the A1 Vilnius -Kaunas -Klaipėda road is planned to limit speed to 90 km/h, and minimally narrowing the driving width, ”said Via Lietuva specialists.
It is important to observe the signs
Street and road repairs can knock out the usual crayfish. One day, drivers can travel normally, the next – bypasses or the other side of traffic, so constantly monitor road signs, marking lines. In addition, it is better to drive more slowly at the renovated sections than to get into a traffic accident. Then the entire flow will stop for a long time.
« At this point, probably the most problematic place is on Alegalio Street, A1 on the road. Elsewhere, but no major problems. In the first week we paid much attention to this A1 road area, as the road marking changed, drivers’ attention turned to change, so there were technical events. The speeding of the speeding of the driving, so we really had a lot of work there.
The officer assured that the best way to avoid congestion is to observe the signs. « Nowhere will drivers will be in a hurry, although they are very keen to overcome those places faster. The road signs need to be monitored, as the traffic is organized, because the procedure may not be in order to repair for ten years; sometimes the two lanes are temporarily becoming one, » Lukošius wished not to lose his alertness.
