In the Disgenaatdreef in Herdersem, the driver of a Porsche Cayenne crashed against a lighting pole and a facade of a house on Saturday evening after he went straight ahead. The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
It was around 9 pm that, at the intersection of the Disgenaatdreef with the Aartstraat, the driver of a Porsche Cayenne missed his turn and went straight ahead. The vehicle rammed a lighting pole, a fence and the facade of a house, after which it came to a halt in an adjacent meadow.
Due to the severe impact, the driver got clamped in his vehicle and had to be freed from his car by the fire brigade. The man was seriously injured and was transferred to the hospital, after he received the first worries on the spot.

The cause of the accident is investigated by the police, but the driver would have been under the influence of alcohol. The crash also caused a lot of material damage: the relatively new Porsche is probably ripe for the scrap heap and the facade of the house was also damaged.
Due to the accident, the intersection of the Disgenaatdreef with the Aartstraat remained closed to all traffic for a while. (CBH)
