Driver of Porsche dies at Crash against Boom in Hasselt (Hasselt)
A major accident happened on the Runksterkiezel in Hasselt in the late evening, in which a Porsche bumped into a tree. The driver did not survive the blow.
The accident happened around 11.45 pm. The Porsche drove over the raised intersection, bumped into a tree on the left side of the road and came to a halt on the right in a hedge. After the heavy blow, the South-West Limburg fire brigade was still on site from the barracks of Hasselt to free the victim from the wreck. But all help came too late. The driver died on the spot. The LRH police came to make the findings. No traffic expert had to be on site.
It is not the first fatal accident on the Steenweg. Close to the place where the Porsche crashed into the tree on Friday evening, five people in their twenties were killed in June 2005. It concerned four young men from Uzbekistan and a girl from Kazakhstan. They also ended up with their car against a tree.
