Dreamliner crashed only weeks after Boeing’s billion -dollar settlement

Air India Tragedy in Ahmedabad has been the first Boeing 787 accident dreamliner since its introduction in 2011, reports Guardian. Although aircraft companies using a Boeing aircraft had numerous engine problems to 787, which made it necessary to ground the planes and reduce the number of flights, its safety records have been good in use so far.

The aviation industry is shocked by the first death accident of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which occurred just weeks after US aircraft giant Boeing agreed to pay $ 1.1 billion to the US Ministry of Justice ZV avoiding criminal prosecution due to catastrophic aircraft accidents 737 Max in 2018 and 2019.

Tragedy in Ahmedabad

Air India, flying from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff and ended in a densely populated area. The aircraft reached only 188 meters before it lost control and crashed, and according to first estimates, everyone on board died.

This is the first example of Dreamler’s death accident since this modern wide -angle model was introduced in 2011 as a technological breakthrough with less fuel consumption and quieter operation.

Boeing under the new pressure

The 787 model is considered one of the safest in the history of modern aviation, despite occasional technical difficulties – especially with engines – which made individual fleets already grounded.

Last year, the former engineer and whistleblower called on the global grounding of all aircraft 787, but Boeing dismissed the allegations and insisted that the model was safe. Today, more than 1100 aircraft is 787 worldwide, used by many of the largest international airlines.

Memory of model tragedies 737 max

The accident follows a difficult Boeing period. Model 737 Max was involved in two tragic accidents in Indonesia and Ethiopia between 2018 and 2019, which claimed a total of 346 lives. After almost a year of grounding, the aircraft is in use again, but remains a symbol of one of the largest security scandals in civil aviation history.

In May this year, Boeing achieved a settlement with the US Ministry of Justice, which avoided law enforcement for these disasters. The victim’s relatives described the agreement as « morally abducted ».

Air India: Security Challenges

Air India now manages about 30 Dreamliners and has been using this long -distance aircraft since 2012.

In aviation, accidents are most likely to occur during landing or takeoff. According to data on flight tracking on Flight Radar, the plane took off and reached an altitude of 188 meters.

The last Air India accident occurred in August 2020 at the smaller Boeing 737-800 Air India Express, which in bad weather landed at Calicut Airport and slid off the runway, killing twenty people.

Investigations are starting

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Indian civilian airline and Air India are already investigating the event. In a brief statement, Boeing announced that he was « aware of the first reports and collects additional information. »

The Air Council is now awaiting the findings of the investigation – and the answers to the questions of whether it is a lonely tragic event or a sign of deeper problems with a model that is supposed to be a symbol of a safe future of air traffic.
