Dramatic summer awaits domestic air traffic control: domestic air traffic is peaks!
The numbers are shocking: 327,000 aircraft crossed the Hungarian airspace in the first months of the year, and even more traffic is expected in the summer. According to experts, the number of flying flights could increase by up to 12%, while Liszt Ferenc Airport can be 15%more busy. Delays, congestion, nervous passengers? The Hungarian aeronautical service provider, Hungarocontrol, has done its best to prevent this from happening.
He made tremendous efforts and mobilized significant resources to prepare for the summer and handle the unprecedented air traffic. The number of air traffic controllers has been increased by more than 10%, and the structure of the airspace has been redesigned so that more aircraft can pass through our country, but if necessary, the service leaders will be controlled if the situation so requires.

The weather – especially the summer – is becoming more whimsical. Fast, fierce storms and unpredictable thunderstorms make it difficult for air traffic controllers because they pose a flight safety risk, so aircraft cannot fly. Aviation can and can often lead to flight delay, as a large percentage of delays in the summer can be at the expense of the weather. Responding to this problem, Hungarocontrol has been closer to its cooperation with our country’s flight meteorological service provider, Hungarome, whose experts support air traffic controllers on site. First and foremost, they help Hungarian air travel experts in interpreting weather data and predicting weather phenomena to help them handle air traffic with greater efficiency. This background work is what passengers do not see, yet determines their experience.
The airlines work with a tight round, so it’s enough to slip in the morning and the schedule for the whole day may fall. For this reason, Hungarocontrol has confirmed morning shifts so that during the busiest time of the day, every aircraft can take off Liszt Ferenc Airport in time. He also introduced a new traffic management system to hoping for a reduction in congestion. They also advanced on the technology front: the air traffic control software, which is already at the forefront of the world, was renewed. In addition, their remote tower management system has been put into operation, allowing airport traffic to be controlled from a distance – safely and precisely.

HungaroControl is also active at the international level: they also negotiate with airlines, European partners and representatives of neighboring airborne availability. The goal is to coordinate the operation as much as possible to reduce flight delay and increase passengers’ satisfaction.
The expected summer record traffic will surely test Hungarian air traffic control, but with forward -looking planning, Hungarocontrol picked up gloves and tried to go to the challenges. During their operation, passengers’ safety is considered the main priority, and there is no compromise. Conscious developments and operational flexibility try to reduce flight delay and maintain a high level of service. All of this is not only because of the numbers, but also because of the passengers, that families who want to go on vacation arrive in time for selected destinations.
