Heavy rains in the Argentine port city of Bahia Blanc, southwest of Buenos Aires capital, took at least 10 lives and caused considerable floods on Friday. More than 260 millimeters of rain fell in a few hours, destroying bridges and causing asphalt roads to collapse, the City said, adding that more deaths could not be excluded.

« All available resources are arranged with municipal teams, a provincial government, a navy and an Argentine army for assistance, » said Bahia Blanc authorities.
The storm forced the evacuation of homes and health centers in the main trade port of some 600 kilometers from the capital. Photos and shots on social networks show mothers fleeing a flooded hospital with their newborn babies. Patricia Bullrich Security Minister and Defense Minister Luis Petri visited the city, posting on their social networks photos of military trucks that patrol the dark, flooded city at night.

Floods in Argentina
President Javier Milei canceled his scheduled activities in Mendoz province on Saturday, said spokesman Manuel Adorni. He didn't say if Milei would travel to town.
Economy Minister Luis Caputo said on X that the Government approved $ 9.2 million financial assistance for Bahia Blanc, which has a population of about 300,000.
