Dozens of people were arrested against the mafia in Germany and Italy, including a German policeman / day
Italian police said 20 people were arrested in Italy accused of being involved in the mafia clan « Ndrangheta ».
In Germany, raids were mainly conducted in Baden-Virtemberg, but police operations also took place in Rhinzeme-Palca, North Rhine-Westphalia and the Federal Land of Saar.
A total of 34 detention warrants and 40 search warrants were fulfilled in Italy and Germany, the German police and the prosecutor’s office revealed.
The detainees include a 46 -year -old German policeman suspected of supporting Ndrangheta.
In the investigation, German and Italian police were supported by Interpol, which in 2020 began the program to fight Ndrangheta. Since then, more than 100 people have been arrested worldwide suspected of being involved in this mafia clan. About 20 countries are involved in the program and Germany and Italy are particularly active.
Ndrangheta is considered the most dangerous mafia clan in Italy. It is actively involved in drug trafficking and is considered to dominate the European cocaine market.
Police believe that about 170 people in Baden-Wirtemberg are related to criminal organizations, including mafia clans such as « Ndrangheta », « Cosa Nostra » and « Camorra ». The range of documented crimes is wide – from fraudulent food trade to drug trafficking, weapons illegal circulation, money laundering and tax.
