After an adventurous relationship, which lasted for more than three decades and making the royal family up and down, the couple were now officially united in marriage.
The relationship of the current king of Britain and Camilla was certainly not the best hidden secret of the palace. It was he who had caused turmoil in Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana, eventually leading to the hectic divorce and a scandal that still « hurts » the royal family.
However, even just before the steps of the church climb, one day like today 20 years ago, many were the members of the family who did not want this marriage – with their first and best William and Harry.

Indeed, the 40 -year -old prince, in the memoirs of « Spare » he published in 2023, reveals the whole backdrop of his acquaintance with Camilla, as well as everything they said to their father Charles.
« I remember being with William and begging him not to marry her, » Harry wrote for the period when they met Camilla in 1998, about a year after Diana’s tragic death.
« We will support you, we told him. We will welcome Camilla to the family. But don’t get married. Just be together, dad, ”recalls the 40 -year -old prince. Indeed, as explained the great concern they had with William were the reactions that such a marriage would cause.
« It will stir up the press. It will make the whole country, all over the world talking about mom, comparing mom to Camilla and no one wants that. Above all, Camilla « had told him.
According to Harry, the current king did not answer, but indirectly Camilla did it when a campaign began a campaign that would lead to marriage. However, the Duke of Sussex and Prince William were not the only obstacles that Charles had to face.
According to the author of the book « Rebel Prince » Tom Bauer, the biggest obstacle was Queen Elizabeth herself – he had to support the marriage if he wanted Charles to stay on the line of succession.
