Don’t make others what you don’t want to do to you
Is there moral and ethics in Macedonia? We can formulate this issue differently: are there basic and positive principles and values that promote us to success and results. Is there a Macedonian sense of justice, justice, legality, loyalty, success?
Series: For duties, responsibility, morality and ethics in the Republic of Macedonia (4)
We have been living the 34th year of the introduction of democracy and pluralism in Macedonia and half of the third decade of the 21st century, and never establish a paradigm of responsibility, principles and ethical and moral values in the community. It is high time to build a value system with a democratic sign, whose essence will be the national and social tradition and culture in which work ethics and moral principles will be founded, as well as responsibility of all kinds (criminal, misdemeanor, disciplinary, moral). Sotir Kostov writes about these necessary prerequisites for the sustainable democratic order and free social life in the country and society in the series titled « On the Duties, Responsibility, Morality and Ethics in the Republic of Macedonia »
The universally accepted principle of ethical behavior is contained in the famous saying of the German philosopher Emmanuel Kant: « Do not do to others what you do not want to do to you. » In addition to the aforementioned principle of assessing ethics, ie unethical in the behavior of people, groups and organizations, the following principles are accepted in the practice of living and working: a) usefulness – the greatest good, for most people; b) personality – as an individual and his long -term interests; c) the rights of every person relating to respect for the fundamental rights of people, such as, the right to life, equality before laws and the like; d) Respect for laws, whereby behavior is treated as appropriate if in accordance with the legal provisions and does not violate them. The problems of ethics in the conception of values, relationships and cooperation are similar to those in business/political ethics. In addition to possible ethical dilemmas regarding citizens/customer relations, managers/politicians must also solve the problems arising from employee relationships, suppliers, distributors and all other collaborators in the creation chain and adding values.
Suspicious ethical behavior of entities in Macedonian social life?
Suspicious ethical behavior of the subjects of social life in Macedonia is possible in all areas of work. Thus, for example, unethical behavior in the market research process, in the form of manipulation of surveys and interviews, is possible. The next area of potential ethical dilemmas is the area of promotional communications of organizations and institutions. It applies especially to the ad. The question arises as to whether it should be exaggerated in advertising its offer by showing the values offered with imaginary properties that they neither have nor can they have. Is it ethical to deceive citizens/clients with untrue ads and public campaigns? Or are the marketing experts right when they say that there is nothing unethical!? They are often found on a slippery ground of violating ethical principles when they express their attention to their business partners in business and political entities in politics. This is because of the tiny gifts, bribery and corruption in business and political relations the road is very short.
In all the forward listed examples of the application of economic, social and political activity, ethical principles and principles play an important role. Ethics is an additional value that companies, organizations and institutions upgrade to the offered basic market values (economic and political). Operating according to ethical principles leads to extraordinarily competitive advantages. It is very important, whether it be state institutions, profit organizations or non -profit sector organizations, people working in them have high ethical principles and responsible moral behavior.
The question of whether the behavior of starring will be directed and shaped in an ethical or unethical direction depends on the following elements: What is the family upbringing of personality, what religious values he possesses and what his personal standards and needs are; What is the manager/politician, the artist/athlete, as a member of a particular organization/institution, who has his own culture, business ethics and code of conduct; What is the behavior between superiors and co -workers; the type of business/political/cultural environment, ie. What is the legislation, which are the prescribed norms, what are the values adopted in society as a whole, as well as the companies, organizations and institutions separately.
Ethical behavior
The ethical behavior of companies, organizations, political parties and institutions, in the exchange of market values, is the added value, which citizens/clients, suppliers, distributors, business partners and the general public recognize and know how to appreciate. Like the opposite: unethical behavior is punishable by the most difficult possible punishment, which is a boycott and boycotting the offer and giving confidence in competition.
In this context, the Code of Conduct is the best guide in the profession. As an example I will cite the Code of Ethics of the American Association of Political Consultants, as an Association of Professionals of Political and Public Affairs: « As a member of the American Association of Political Consultants, I believe that there are checked standards of practice that I have to adhere to. degraded the practice of political consulting; Illegal discrimination and condemn those who practice it, instead of working for equal voting rights and privileges for all citizens; I will refrain from wrong or false attacks on the opponent or members of his family and do everything in my power to prevent others from using such tactics; I will accurately and completely document any criticism of the opponent or its or its records; And I will be honest in my relationship with the news media and I will openly answer the questions when I have the authority for such a thing. «
Is there moral and ethics in Macedonia?
The content of this ethics code leads us to ask us: Is there a morality and ethics in Macedonia? We can formulate this question differently: are there basic and positive principles and values that encourage us to success and results. Is there a Macedonian sense of justice, justice, legality, loyalty, success?
Most specifically, we pollute the crucial moral issue – about personal duty and moral responsibility – in work and life. In Bible teaching there is great interest in people’s personal relationships. From there, the Bible teaches us to righteousness, virtue and treatment and behavior conformed to moral norms. But the 34-year practice of pluralism and democracy in the Republic of Macedonia did not convince us that we have successfully overcome the lessons of ethics and moral behavior. The increasingly common events of corruption, nepotism, organized crime and non -compliance with the provisions of the laws are evidence of the absence of moral values and principles in our behavior and work.
I allow myself to propose the following features and traits that I am convinced that they can only encourage ethical behavior in every member of the social community: wisdom. Intelligence is a basic need for moral life. Great thinkers have always emphasized wisdom, as a valid feature and characteristic of people who want to manage; Courage. It is always necessary (courage) when something needs to change and introduce something new. It is the ability to turn well -imagined (ideas) into practice and reality, even when there are no most appropriate conditions. It is only necessary to always strive to be brave. For starters, it is enough to make one step forward, forward to development, growth, responsibility and justice; Moderation. It is always always and in everything to have a measure. The extremes (both positive and negative) know how to be dangerous; Righteousness. Those who want to be successful in managing (thinking about local self -government and state level, in business and civil sector), must appreciate the honesty, respect of the rights to others and the performance of their obligations. They should always reject unfairness, ie injustice; Conscience. It is an intuition for what should or should not be done. It is also a psychological and moral attitude towards the consequences and responsibilities (« Why did I do it, should I have to do it? »). Some rightly consider the conscience as the voice of God in ourselves. Others feel that conscience is a sense developed in each individual based on the stacked positive experience.
