Donald Trump plans to travel to Saudi Arabia: ‘Maybe in May, maybe a little later’
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he plans to visit Saudi Arabia as early as May to sign an investment agreement in the first foreign trip in his second term, and a visit to Katra and the United Arab Emirates were planned.
« It could be next month, maybe a little later, » Trump told reporters in an oval office.
Four sources informed about the issue said the middle of May was considered as the best moment to travel. Trump made Saudi Arabia and Israel the first cells on his inaugural foreign journey during his first term in 2017.
Trump, repeating the remarks he gave in early March, said his trip to Saudi Arabia would be signing an investment agreement with more billion dollars in the US economy, including the purchase of military equipment. He said that similar agreements would be signed in Katra and UAE.
In those two or three days, huge jobs will be created, Trump said. The president did not talk about job details.
Other topics that are likely to be discussed include the three -year war of Russia in Ukraine and the war in Gaza, one source said.
Saudi Arabia has played a prominent role in the US foreign policy, including the household of US negotiations to break fire with Russia and Ukraine.
– The opportunity for international trips for the president is something that is considered. We do not yet have a concrete plan, and we will give that information when officially – said the White House official before Trump’s statement.
Last week, Trump promised to add more countries to Abraham’s agreement, a series of agreements on normalization that his administration agreed between Israel and some countries of the Bay during his first term.
Trump said more countries want to join the agreement. While the White House singled out Saudi Arabia as a possible participant in the agreement, the Saudis have doubts to Israel because of the Gaza war.
