Donald Trump excludes Russia and North Korea from new tariffs

Russia and North Korea are the only nations that do not face US tariffs. The White House has made the decision not to include Russia on its wide list of countries that will face new tariffs, starting today.

While discovering his fees on Wednesday, Trump welcomed the « good cooperation » between Russia and Ukraine, while underlining his desire to stop the war. US sanctions on Moscow already « excludes any meaningful trade, » White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt told Axio on Wednesday.

This comes while Vladimir Putin’s main negotiator Kirill Dmitriev held meetings in Washington. Putin’s envoy for investments and one of the members of the Russian elite, Mr. Dmitriev, who met with US officials in Washington yesterday, is the top Russian official to have visited the US since the occupation of Ukraine in February 2022.

Donald Trump had earlier threatened Moscow with raw oil fees, adding that he was « unbeaten » with Vladimir Putin about his latest comments about Ukraine.

At the same time, the war -torn Ukraine is facing 10 percent tariffs from the US administration. A team from Ukraine can go to the United States this week or next week, US Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent told Bloomberg television yesterday.

« We have passed together a complete document for the economic partnership (which) is currently being reviewed by the Ukrainians and we hope to go to complete discussions and maybe even receive signatures next week, » Bessent said.
