Does the trend towards ink off? – Diepresse.com
In the United States, the market for tattoo removal is flourishing. In Austria, for example, every seventh tattooed at least one of his tattoo wants to get away again. Should skin be naked again now?
There is a space noise when the laser hits the ink under the skin. This can also be felt properly, which does not make up for the addition of cold air. Patients would scream, the majority twitch together, is said at Dermacare at Morzinplatz in Vienna. Here several people go in and out every day, to whom at least one of their tattoos go to the lower. You can literally hear the many mothers and fathers from off: « I told you yes. »
The market for removing tattoo flourishes, especially in the United States, but also in Austria. In overseas, the market value is currently $ 500 to $ 600 million, forecasts expect growth to over one billion by 2030. Here the value is only in the double -digit million range, but it is said to thrive similarly quickly. « In the past five years, demand has increased by more than twice, » says Eduard Yusupov, managing director and founder of the Dermacare Institute for Aesthetic Treatments. Depending on the survey, about ten to 15 percent of the tattooed people think about a distance or have already been tattoos away. The reasons for this are always quite similar, Yusupov knows: the attitude to life of the people has changed, or simply their preference. With the name of the ex, not so many come.
Sticker on Bentley
A look at TikKoK suggests a trend reversal: tattoos may be out of fashion again after they have only hiked the mainstream for the last two decades. Industry experts have long been predicted that the zenith would soon be reached. Possible that this is now actually exceeded. On the video muscle platform, at least recently an old quote from the Ur-Influencer Kim Kardashian has made the round, from an interview from 2009. US moderator Wendy Williams asked her about whether she was tattooed: « Darling, would you stick a bumper sticker to a bentley? » A good 15 years later, young women now keep their unexpected skin into the outlet in the camera.
With their « purity » they show as if women with tattoos have ruined their natural beauty. This fits well with the revival of conservative aesthetic on the mentioned platform, from the « Clean Girl » to the « Tradwife », which combines the wearing of chic vests, bright colors, little make-up and perfectly groomed hair. At most, these women tattooed a small heart or an infinity symbol. In any case, but no « ass consecration ».
And then there is Pete Davidson, comedian, actor and above all known as a partner of beautiful women. With the models Emily Ratajkowski and Kaia Gerber, the singer Ariana Grande and with Kim Kardashian, he was in a relationship. At that time it was still fully tattooed, he carried 200 drawings under the skin. Until he didn’t want them anymore. At the time, he was not going well, he hidden behind the tattoos. Making it away should now help with the restart, he recently told the « People » magazine.
To date, Davidsons are likely to have cost 200,000 euros again, the treatments will still take at least ten years, which is due to the fact that each tattoo takes about ten to twelve sessions each, until it is gone, the skin must be able to cure for six to eight weeks. During this time, the body of the shot color cells gets rid of the liver, kidney and intestine. A part remains in the body that is assumed that it is harmless. You certainly don’t know that yet.

In any case, the technology is getting better. Treatment with modern devices such as the so-called PICO laser (only a few institutes work in Austria) is more painless, bleeding or incrustations are less common. « However, there is always a residual risk for side effects, » dermatologist Golnaz Delir told the « Press on Sunday ». How well the laser strikes, not only depends on the laser and talent of the dermatologist, but also on the skin type, the color, the color of the tattoo and how deep it was engraved. What can remain can be a faded version or lighter skin in places, especially with darker complexion. You have to calculate that.
Delir therefore, like Pete Davidson recently in Jimmy Fallon’s « Late Night Show », pleads for a long time to think about it before you get under the needle from decorative purposes. « However, awareness of this has grown significantly in recent years. » Art scientist Julia Cwojdzinski sees it similarly. She has devoted her dissertation to the tattoo as a medium, which was a few years ago. « I started my doctoral thesis in 2014. Tattoos gradually conquered the mainstream and the media. I think many may not have thought so well at the time, selected any motifs that were present on the net. » Today their meaning would no longer fit, or they would have had none at all. Since then, more and more tattoo artists than artists have been understood. Tattoos have become more individual, for the generic cloverleaf or the anchor on the arm you might be a little. This is how Cwojdzinski explains at least the many distances today.
Cyclic nature
Or removing, or leaving it, the counter-reaction to the now tattooed mass is. Around 45 percent of those under 39 wear (more or less) works under the skin. They have become more common and may have lost their charm.
« These waves have always existed. Tattoos were once more visible in public. Certainly the popularity of tattoos will slow down again, but now the curve is a little flattening. « What always exists is a solid core. These are people from subcultures or those who are traveling even in the tattoo scene. They act unaffected by trends, the tattoos are an expression of their personality. »
However, few are as radical as Pete Davidson anyway. This is also emphasized by Dermacare Managing Director Yusupov at the end of the conversation. « Most of them are largely satisfied with their tattoos. Our customers rarely let all their tattoos, rather only one or two individuals. » As many as Davidson wants to keep at most.
