Does Luxembourg need a fire wall against green?

In the last parliamentary elections, the Greens experienced the greatest defeat of all time. A party in Luxembourg had never had such a loss of votes. The Greens lost five of nine seats. The Volks’ verdict clearly showed that the Greens are less and less popular with the Luxembourgers, and some of the population even deteriorate them.

Where does this crash come from in popularity? Again and again one hears with regard to the politics of the green terms such as the prohibition party, moralists, Bevormunder, « Confiscateurs de Plaisirs et de Libertés ». Some go even further and speak of a green sect, green fascists or eco -fascists.

The aversion stirs up in particular through the constant attacks on freedom: prohibition of combustion cars, ban on gas heating, prohibition of straws and plastic cups, increase in petrol and diesel prices, tightening laws and regulations, restriction of freedom of expression, abolition of « mamm » to « Papp », derogation towards our nation and its traditions.

The citizens are constantly imposed on the feelings of guilt: if you do not think and act and act according to the decree of the Green Prediger, you become a second -class citizen and should even be punished.

Good against evil – the worldview of the Greens

The world of the Greens is simple: there are good ones, these are the Greens, their friends from so-called civil society, the many non-governmental organizations (NGO) funded by the government). In addition, there is a generally positive response to your policies through an increasingly one -sided media landscape.

Evil are pretty much everyone who is not far to the left.

And then there are the bad guys: there are pretty much everyone who is not far to the left. You should not forget those heretics who do not want to believe in the climate apocalypse.

However, old white men, farmers, sports cars and SUV owners, hunters, anglers, meat eaters are also suspicious. Incidentally, it should be clear to everyone today that the prayer mill that is repeated that we are able to combat a climate change as a small country is part of a long list of examples of green fake news.

It is also clear that anyone who divides the world into black and white without any shading, split, and who divides, you also risk standing and losing on the wrong side. In addition, there are the many scandals that have been more or less non -transparent. The sad tip of this iceberg are the Affair traversini and Dieschbourg.

Decisions against the will of the people

Instead of trusting more democracy, the Greens have increasingly moved away from democratic principles. Citizens will continue to remember that the Greens have enforced the new constitution with the crowbar. They broke their promise to subject the constitution to a referendum, i.e. to have the people have a say in the most important legal text of Luxembourg.

In general, more and more decisions were made that are diametrically opposed to the will of the people. Respecting basic principles of democratic principles only seems to disturb her in her sometimes radical ideas. In the end, a policy that wants to box through the particular interests of some lobby groups arises, knowing that the majority of citizens see it differently.

Instead of trusting more democracy, the Greens have increasingly moved away from democratic principles.

Coupled with the necessary arrogance, a toxic mix that voters rejected sooner or later is created. In this sense, there are those who want a fire wall against green, including the Bavarian Prime Minister Söder, who in principle rejects a possible coalition with the Greens. A fire wall would mean that all other parties no longer work with the Greens, that the media fight the Greens and disclose the extremes of their politics.

But would this be an acceptable solution? Certainly not. We don’t need a fire wall against the Greens in Luxembourg. The elections, i.e. the verdict of the people, serve as a regulator here. Like the last elections. That’s how it is in a democracy: the voter decides.

Democracy means tolerate other opinions

Ultimately, we should keep democracy up and emphasize the positive aspects: the turnout in western countries is as high as it has not been for a long time. Citizens’ interest in political issues is strengthened, and even more young people are interested in politics.

We don’t need a fire wall against the Greens in Luxembourg.

Democracy means tolerating and accepting other opinions and working for freedom of expression. Democracy also means consistency, respect for competitors and fairness. We should also apply these basic rules of respectful coexistence to the Greens’ policy. And of course the Greens are not fascists.
